What We Believe

We believe:
  • in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their original writing as fully inspired of God, and accept them as the final authority for faith and life.
  • in one God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.
  • that God created humankind in His own image; that the first man, Adam, sinned and incurred the penalty of death, physical and spiritual. As descendants of Adam, each person is born with a sinful nature, which results in actual transgression involving personal responsibility and guilt.
  • that the Lord Jesus died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that all who believe in Him are justified by grace through faith on the grounds of His perfect life and sacrificial, substitutionary death.
  • in the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, His ascension into heaven, and His present life as our High Priest and Advocate.
  • in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • in the personality of the Holy Spirit, His regenerating work, His abiding presence in the true believer, the necessity of His empowering to live the Christian life fully and His sovereign distribution of spiritual gifts.
  • that all Christians are called to a life of holiness, devotion to God and service to Him. This service includes a deep concern for the world which He loves, which will lead us to seek the salvation of the lost and to care for people’s temporal needs.
  • in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the judgement of the living and the dead, the eternal blessedness of the redeemed, and the eternal punishment of the lost.
  • that the whole company of those who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, being redeemed by Him and regenerated by the Holy Spirit, form one true church, and that the local church on earth takes its character from this concept. Therefore the new birth and personal confession of faith in Christ are essentials of church membership.
  • in the priesthood and ministry of all believers. The church is a charismatic community and all the gifts and ministries needed for her life come as a result of the Holy Spirit’s sovereign activity.
  • that the Lord Jesus Christ appointed two symbolic ordinances – Believer’s Baptism in water and Lord’s Supper (breaking bread) – which are to be observed as acts of obedience and as a witness to the truths of the Christian faith.
  • that the ascended Christ has given various ministries to the church in order to bring all believers to the place of Christian maturity. To some members of the church have been given particular gifts and calling for oversight, pastoral care, preaching and teaching in order to equip God’s people for their work of ministry. That local churches are led by a team of elders.
