Our commitments
Our commitments can be summarised below:
- ● The Bible is true
- We believe the Bible is both true and provides accurate information about God, life and the human condition. Scripture contains reliable truth we can build our lives on; truth that our counselling process is based upon.
- ● Grace changes everything
- We believe real and lasting change occurs when people know themselves and their problems within a living and vital relationship with Jesus Christ. Christ not only has the grace to forgive us and reconcile us to God, but He also has the grace to change us from the inside out.
- ● Our counsellors are ready to help
- The most important qualification of our lay biblical counsellors is that they have come to know Christ out of their own experiences of personal need. Furthermore, our lay counsellors have undergone training, assessment and supervision in biblical counselling.
- ● Our approach is pastoral and safe
- Our counselling approach involves accountability, trust and confidentiality through employing established pastoral guidelines throughout the process.
Your commitments
We ask that you commit to:
- ● Consent
- Carefully considering and signing our Counselling Ministry Consent Form.
- ● Authentically share
- Sharing your heart, hurts and struggles openly and honestly.
- ● Get actively involved
- Evaluating your own emotions, desires, thoughts, motives and behaviours. Involvement also includes actively participating in the counselling process, demonstrated in a willingness to complete personalised counselling “homework” assignments.
- ● Attend consistently
- Committing to regular meetings for the duration of your counselling process.
- ● Pursue community
- Because the Scriptures teach that our personal growth requires the resources of friendship and community, we also ask that those seeking biblical counselling at Jubilee commit themselves to attending church regularly on a Sunday and participating in a lifegroup, (if you’re not yet in a lifegroup, your counsellor will collaborate with you on identifying an appropriate lifegroup).
